The Natural Resources Department  covers all programmes, projects and studies related to the natural resources management and/or protection of the continental and watery (marine and continental) ecosystems. Hence, this department is active in the broad sectors of forestry, wildlife and protected areas management, fishery and aquaculture, biodiversity and nature conservation.

The Natural Resources Department is mainly orientated towards long term projects related to Forest and Protected Areas Management, Biodiversity and Nature conservation. In the scope of its activities, the Department is carrying out projects all over the World. For example, the Participatory Management of Dinderesso and Kou Protected Forest in Burkina Faso,  the forestry studies in the Frame of the Participatory Development of the Forest and Buffer Zones of the Chefchaouen Province in Morocco, the Technical Assistance to the Eco-Forestry Programme in Papua New Guinea (see bellow), the Development and Sustainable management of the Manu Biosphere and National Park in Peru (See our references below).

The Natural Resources Department is also leading an International Consortium involved in The EU Framework Contract : “Strengthening Fishery Products Health Conditions in ACP/OCT countries – Lot 1 : Studies and Artisanal Fisheries Support. This framework contract aims to bring technical assistance to ACP/OCT countries in developing sustainable use of the marine and coastal ecosystems and advising the local communities in the strengthening of the health conditions of the fishery products. Most of the Technical Assistance consists of short term missions. The Natural Resources Department is also very active in the Framework Contract AMS/451, Lot 1 and 6, when the requests for services received in those frames are related to its expertise. Therefore, The Natural Resources Department can be considered as a Transversal Department of AGRIFOR. Indeed, beside the activities peculiar to the Department, it also takes part in short term and long term projects led by the three others Departments.

The same way the other Departments act in order to provide their best professional and qualified services, The Natural Resources Department can rely on a strong network of qualified consultants in every field related to the Natural Resources sector in its wide sense. This network of Consultants is regularly consulted by our permanent staff for the elaboration of our technical offers and during the implementation of the projects led by AGRIFOR Consult.
